Quit drinking the easy way with meditation
WE MEDITATE TO QUIT ALCOHOL is a guided meditation course that will show you an easy way to unwind and empower you to break old habits.
Join thousands of people like you improving their lives through meditation.
Created by meditation teacher, writer and (former) drinker Rory Kinsella.
Forget mindfulnessHave you tried meditation before and struggled? Hard to clear your mind?
Chances are that you tried a mindfulness technique (breath focus, Headspace, Calm etc).
We Meditate uses a much easier approach.
Instead of the breath, you use a self-transcending mantra, a simple word or sound you silently repeat in your head that brings you to inner stillness.
Many people who have tried both mindfulness and a mantra find the mantra approach significantly easier.
What you’ll learn- A simple meditation technique to reduce stress
- A way to control your impulses and reduce cravings
- How to deal with thoughts during meditation
- A way to improve sleep
- A method for developing resilience and self control
- A way of reprogramming your brain and breaking old habits
How it works- You receive an email with a link to a streamable or downloadable mp3 audio file of 31 daily lessons
- Listen to a 15 minute recording each day guiding you through a structured meditation course
- Listen anywhere you can sit quietly without being disturbed – you don’t need silence, the bus or train will work just fine
- Each recording begins and ends with a few minutes of instruction and has around ten minutes of silent meditation in the middle
- The technique will create new neural pathways in your brain to allow new ways of thinking and behaving
Gabrielle, Graduate Student, South Carolina“After the first meditation I spent the rest of the day feeling calm and relaxed, and slept well for the first time in a while. Not sure if it’s the overall effects of sobriety or the meditation or a combination of both. Rory’s voice puts me in a relaxed state almost immediately.”
Chloe, Admin Assistant, Georgia“I am really loving these and getting much benefit. Rory’s voice and messages strike a chord with me.
I've noticed a difference in my behaviour, less being triggered and reactive to stressors and more open toward others.
It's wonderful being a silent witness to my own healing and growth as it's happening.”
Tess, PA and mum of three, London“I loved the course. I don’t know why I haven't been meditating since I was a teenager. It feels like it was made for me but I expect lots of people think that! I have a constant stream of worries and thoughts and just giving myself the chance to let those thoughts ramble without worrying about them and then refocusing on the mantra has been revolutionary. I've been sleeping so much better and when I wake up I’m not in a horrible cycle of negative worries and thoughts.
I have stopped drinking when I go out in the week. Like last night with my oldest friends – I just felt confident not ordering alcohol. The others all got hammered. I felt so smug the next day because it didn't dampen my fun at all.
The course is brilliant – it's really easy to follow.”

A year ago today I arrived in Mexico for a meditation retreat with @lightwatkins and @clairerobbie. There was a no alcohol policy for the seven days we were there but when I got home I decided to extend the no drinking for a month, then 100 days, six months... and finally a year! While I haven't been a daily drinker for many years, regular heavy-drinking nights out were still a big thing and I was paying the price with hangovers without getting the same enjoyment out of alcohol as I used to. Getting through the year was so much easier than I thought it would be – I could enjoy time with friends, spend zero money on drinks, drive home and then be up and productive the next day. Now the year is up I still don't feel like a drink so won't be celebrating this milestone in the traditional way. Read about my experiences through the link in my bio. Thanks to @_suzieprasad for making not drinking so easy and @clairerobbie for inspiring me to stop #alcoholfree #clean18 #nodrinking #soberlife

This week marks 18 months since I gave up drinking. Meditation has definitely been the biggest factor in making the whole process doable for me. I have another way to relax and a way of stopping myself over thinking and worrying about stuff. I think meditation is such a good way to help lessen reliance on alcohol that I've spent the last few months putting together an online meditation course specifically designed for people looking to cut down or quit drinking. There's a month's worth of guided meditations that teach a simple technique to help reduce stress and give people a new way to relax. I heard a great way of describing what meditation is good for yesterday - it makes you comfortable in your skin. If you're comfortable in your skin you don't need to drink to feel good. You don't need a skinful! Link in bio #alcoholfree #meditation #guidedmeditation #dryjuly
You need no prior knowledge or experience with meditation and will only need to set aside 15 minutes a day, where you can sit somewhere, close your eyes and listen to a recording.
The technique uses a mantra which is a meditation word you say silently in your head. The mantra gives you something to occupy your awareness instead of thoughts and leads you to a place of stillness within.
By accessing this place of stillness, you will allow your body to release stress and create new circuitry in your brain which will help you change your habits, including drinking.
This course is designed for moderate to heavy drinkers who want help quitting or cutting down. If you have serious issues with alcohol you should contact your doctor or a local support group.
