He is a qualified and experienced meditation teacher and an alcohol-free advocate who has written extensively about his journey from being a heavy drinker to a non-drinking meditation teacher.

A year ago today I arrived in Mexico for a meditation retreat with @lightwatkins and @clairerobbie. There was a no alcohol policy for the seven days we were there but when I got home I decided to extend the no drinking for a month, then 100 days, six months... and finally a year! While I haven't been a daily drinker for many years, regular heavy-drinking nights out were still a big thing and I was paying the price with hangovers without getting the same enjoyment out of alcohol as I used to. Getting through the year was so much easier than I thought it would be – I could enjoy time with friends, spend zero money on drinks, drive home and then be up and productive the next day. Now the year is up I still don't feel like a drink so won't be celebrating this milestone in the traditional way. Read about my experiences through the link in my bio. This week marks 18 months since I gave up drinking. Meditation has definitely been the biggest factor in making the whole process doable for me. I have another way to relax and a way of stopping myself over thinking and worrying about stuff. I think meditation is such a good way to help lessen reliance on alcohol that I've spent the last few months putting together an online meditation course specifically designed for people looking to cut down or quit drinking. There's a month's worth of guided meditations that teach a simple technique to help reduce stress and give people a new way to relax. I heard a great way of describing what meditation is good for yesterday - it makes you comfortable in your skin. If you're comfortable in your skin you don't need to drink to feel good. You need no prior knowledge or experience with meditation and will only need to set aside 15 minutes a day, where you can sit somewhere, close your eyes and listen to a recording.
The technique uses a mantra which is a meditation word you say silently in your head. The mantra gives you something to occupy your awareness instead of thoughts and leads you to a place of stillness within.
By accessing this place of stillness, you will allow your body to release stress and create new circuitry in your brain which will help you change your habits, including drinking.
This course is designed for moderate to heavy drinkers who want help quitting or cutting down. If you have serious issues with alcohol you should contact your doctor or a local support group.
